Arizona Wings Taxidermy Recommended Field Care of Your Birds

  • First, when selecting a bird to have mounted, pick one that has very little shot damage.
  • Do not carry the bird by the head or by the neck.
  • Handle the bird with care.
  • Smooth feather back to where they are suppose to be. Tuck the head under one of it's wing as soon as possible. Put the bird into a ziplock freezer bag. Squeeze out the air and put it in a cooler or cool place.
  • Keep the bird out of direct sun light. Do not put it into a game bag. The object is to keep it as cool as possible.
  • When you get home, freeze the bird whole. Do not gut the bird or try to get the meat out. We will return the meat to you. Be sure to ask
  • The better you take care of your bird, the better we, your taxidermist, can create a beautiful mount.
